Loyalty and Faithfulness

When a person resigns or asked to leave the company/organisation he’s generally identified as not being loyal; Does it always have to be about loyalty? I have quit multiple companies, many members have quit our company. I find Loyalty as “Faithfulness to the cause, philosophy and group”. And in the professional world 'Loyalty' has got a lot to do with 'Economics'

It’s a trust between two individuals or between the organisation and an individual. It’s so simple but it takes years of earnest effort. When you feel someone is disloyal you might not fathom the reason then.

Journey the Realisation

I realised that am not loyal to my employer. I was not dedicated to the cause. The excitement of doing things was zilch. The sheer joy of enjoyment was lost. It was a monotonous way of life. Mundane. During the course of journey I deviated from the organisation philosophy. And I moved on.
The problem was with me. I couldn’t position myself to the group thought process. Somewhere I was searching for an answer to the question ‘What I do and Why I do” My priorities changed.

Problem

Throwback to 2006: A conference call between my boss, an external party and me. I joined the call from my boss office. The first point to discuss was that the third person named me and said I should join his company. I didn't know what to say. Left it to my boss to handle things.

So technically I didn’t quit the company, may call as ‘transfer of manager’ :)
And that company didn’t last for more than 3 months (their past due caught up with them). Again I was forced to quit. In the former, we might say both myself and boss were not loyal. But in the later, it was my organisation that was not loyal.
When I quit subsequent companies I never felt ‘being with their’ philosophy. The cause for them was to make money. Somehow I lost interest in ‘only’ making money.

Fundamentals of Economics

More often than not loyalty and economics go hand-in-hand

"Wants are unlimited. Resources to satisfy the wants are limited"

"Everlasting existing wants, growing new wants"

These are the basics and fundamentals of Economics. And the 'wants' determine how a person or organisation moves in the ladder. When a person starts employment his wants would be different and after gaining experience his 'wants' would definitely change. No one wants to be stagnant. And as they say 'Change is the only constant' :)

As we grow our wants keep increasing and demanding. Some are measurable, some are qualitative, and some are philosophical. Whatever be the ‘wants’. To choose an alternative from the existing alternatives is essentially an economic problem. It doesn’t mean the organisation or the individual is disloyal. Just their economics changed and thereby Loyalty
